Kenneth Ray Harper, 60, of Collinsville, Alabama, died Thursday, September 22, 2016. He is survived by his brother Vernon Harper, sisters, Gayle Norton and Janice Lamis, son, Daiven Harper and grandson, Annin Harper. Kenneth was loved by his family and lived a simple life. He spent his last years caring for his beloved horses, visiting with his son and grandson, and tending to the property surrounding his home in Collinsville. His dog Fritz provided great companionship in his secluded home, and will rest easy under the oak tree in front of his mountain home. The family is saddened and heartbroken by Kenneth’s untimely passing, but is strong in the knowledge of his unwavering faith in Christ Jesus who has brought Kenneth home to rest in God’s unending peace, love and comfort. Jesus has lifted the burden of this life to bring Kenneth everlasting joy. We anxiously anticipate the day we join Kenneth in the delight of our Lord. In recognition and appreciation of Kenneth, his son Daiven, has included a passage and personal quote of scripture in remembrance of his father’s life:

Deuteronomy 1:29-31
Then I said to you, "Do not be terrified; do not be afraid of them. The LORD your God, who is going before you, will fight for you, as he did for you in Egypt, before your very eyes, and in the desert. There you saw how the LORD your God carried you, as a father carries his son, all the way you went until you reached this place." (NIV)

To my Father:

“Dad,

Thank you for all of the times of correction, support, and comfort you’ve shown throughout my life. I know your heart and your love for Jesus. I’m overwhelmed by the fact that you’re no longer here for council. I’m suffering by the circumstances that took you away. But I’m comforted by your steadfast love in Christ! I’m thankful for your lessons on His love, His Compassion, His forgiveness and His comfort. I’m thankful for the times you didn’t know I saw you struggle with life and see you turn to the Lord and His word for guidance. You’ve taught me a lesson that will never be forgotten and will out way all the things of this world. Jesus saves, Jesus redeems, God forgives, and God welcomes all who turn to him without bias, contempt or reservation. In fact, he runs to us. He cloaks us with his best robes, covers our feet, and puts rings on our fingers. Calling all to join in His celebrations. Because of you, I know the Lord, and I know I will see you again. I look forward to joining you in celebration! I love you dad!
