Andrew B. Daffron, 87 of Hixson passed away peacefully at Life Care Center of Red Bank Monday morning November 28, 2016.

“Daff” as he was known by both friends and family was born in Whitwell, TN June 2, 1929, was a graduate of Whitwell High School then attended The University of Tennessee where he was a member of the Volunteer Football Squad. In addition to be a star athlete, he also served as a sports writer for the Jasper Journal. He was also a boxing coach and was involved with the Chattanooga Golden Gloves for many years. He was retired from Superior Tank Lines, a member of Teamsters Local 515 and had been a member of the National Guard.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Mary Glenn Daffron and parents, Hershel and Willie Annis Daffron of Whitwell, TN.

Survivors include his sons & daughters-in-law, Steve & Veta Daffron and Andy & Debbie Daffron all of Hixson, TN; brothers-in-law, Jarrell D. Searcy and wife Jackie of Loudon, TN, Charles R. Searcy and wife Joyce of Gallatin, TN; three granddaughters, Branna Raines of Houston, TX, Brooke Rhinehart of Hixson, Melissa Milling and husband James of Rossville, GA; three great-grandchildren, Matthew Milling of Rossville, GA, Charleigh and Brody Barton of Hixson; cousins, Gayle Stachel and husband John of Knoxville, TN, Alice Nunnery and husband Jim of Murfreesboro and Mary Annis Davis and husband Mike of Mentor, OH; nephews, Mike Searcy and wife Cheryl of Dandridge, TN, Mark Searcy and wife Patti of Knoxville, TN, Ryan Searcy and wife Kim of Stow, OH, Chris Searcy and wife Lillie of Hendersonville, TN.
